Swap Bloqué ?

Bonjour,
j’ai installé Mandriva linux 2009 sur mon ordinateur et je rencontre un petit problème : l’OS rame vraiment beaucoup. En regardant en détail d’où pourrait venir le problème, j’ai décoouvert que la mémoire SWAP était détectait mais jamais utilisée.
Le système détecte ma partition swap de 2Go mais ne l’utilise pas, il y a toujours en permanance les 2Go de libre, et ce cela qui fait que mon système d’exploitation rame.

Quelqu’un a-t-il déjà eu ce problème ? quelqu’un peut il m’aider à résoudre cela ?

Comment se manifestent ces lenteurs au juste ?
Et de quelle quantité de mémoire vive tu dispose ?

je dispose de 4Go de RAM, et ces lenteur sont visible en fait lorsque je lance ou quit une application, il y a même parfois quelques “freeze” du système durant 20s.

Le swap est horriblement plus lent que la ram (normal c’est sur le disque) donc le systeme l’utilise le moins possible… Pas comme windows qui en fait un usage immodere ce qui lui pose des problemes de performances certains (sans compter les acces disques presque continus sans aucun interet)

Donc, avec 4go de ram, c’est absolument normal que le swap ne soit pas utilise… d’ailleurs, tu aurais meme pu ne pas en mettre.

Par contre, c’est effectivement anormal d’avoir des freeze de 20s sur la fermeture ou l’ouverture d’applis. Neanmoins, ca peut dependre des applis. Ca arrive sur lequelles ?

cela arrive sur un peu toutes les applications en fait, c’est un peu troublant.
Mais d’apres mes anciennes expériences Linux, la mémoire Swap optimisait largement mon système et sa rapidité. J’arrivais, pour exemple, à faire tourner des jeux vidéos très beaux en qualité graphique maximum alors windows xp arrivait à peine à les lancer sans crasher.

Cela dit, c’est effectivement possible que le système n’ait plus besoin de Swap avec un pc à 4Go de Ram, mais cela me parait bizzare puisque je n’ai jamais vu une seule distribution Linux tourner avec autant de difficultés que cela. Donc peut etre que cela est quand meme lié à la rame ??

PS: meme la lecture d’une vidéo rame énormément…

nan nan, c’est pas la swap qui permet ca… c’est linux tout entier :sol:

T’as active les effets 3D ?
T’as quoi comme carte video ?
A mon avis, ce sont les drivers video qui foutent la zone

c’est certain que Linux a de gros avantages sur les performance par rapport à XP :slight_smile:

Sinon j’ai activé des effets graphiques 3D oui, mais lorsque je ne les avait pas encore mis le problème était déjà là, c’est d’ailleurs pour ça que je les ai installé (pour voir si cela venait de la carte graphique).
Mais ma carte graphique fonctionne très bien apparement puisque certaines applications 3D en plein écran, avec pleins d’effets 3D, marchent sans aucun problème. C’est une Nvidia Geforce Quadro 570, avec des drivers officiaux, et là tout va bien, le problème vient à coup sûr d’autre part :slight_smile:

ben la, il va falloir chercher un peu et faire attention au moindre detail pouvant amener sur la piste de la solution…
Investiguer un probleme de performance est vraiment chiant…

Essaye quand meme de lancer un top dans un terminal au cas ou tu aurais un processus qui monopolise ta machine. A moins d’une appli vraiment buggee, un reboot devrait regler un probleme de ce genre generalement donc je pense pas que ce soit une piste serieuse

J’ai déjà vérifié à plusieurs reprises si une application monopolisait le CPU ou le GPU ou la RAM, mais je n’ai rien remarqué.
Quand au redémarrage du système, j’en ai fait déjà un bon paquet pour voir si ç’était juste un problème temporaire, mais bon le problème reste toujours.

Si tu penses vraiment que c’est la swap (hautement improbable avec 4Go de ram, mais bon … ) essaie de faire un

sudo swapoff

(lorsque la machine n’est pas trop chargée) et tu nous dis si ça continue.

ok, merci pour le conseil, je désactive le swap puis le récative pour voir si ça change l’état du système ou non.

Non apparement cela ne change rien au problème, en désactivant ou réactivant le swap ça rame toujours. C’est peut être le processeur qui est mal géré par l’OS, puisqu’il tourne assez souvent aux alentour de 60-80% juste en lançant une vidéo ou une application.
Mon CPU est un Intel Dual 2 Core T8300, 2.4GHz, donc il a largement les capacités pour supporter Linux, meme les dernieres distributions.

swapoff sur un système bien chargé qui sawpe à mort (si c’est de cela dont on parle mais je ne crois pas), ça va tuer des processus.

Tu tapes top et tu nous copies le haut du résultat stp. Comme ça:

Hmmm… Le processeur mal géré, sur une distribution aussi courante et sur un processeur intel, c’est à mon avis un des derniers des endroits à regarder.

Par contre si tu peux avoir un top en même temps, surveille le champs %wa, (Les entrées sorties sur le disque … )
Regarde aussi la commande dmesg, pour voir si il y a des trucs suspects. (Publie le résultat de la commande dmesg au besoin)

10.3% système : c’est absoluement énorme pour une machine non chargée. Il y a un driver qui foire.

ben je n’ai pas détecté de problème sonore, cela dit il ne me semble pas etre en stéréo, j’ai l’impression d’etre en mono, est c surement vrai. le problème pourrait venir de là ?

C’est une piste. Est ce que le problème s’aggrave lorsque tu joues de la musique, ou que tu regardes un film ?
